Measurements
Linear
From Corbat 1990, live birds measured on Georgia barrier islands. No significant difference between sexes on any measurements. Mean exposed culmen length 21.1 mm ± 0.21 SE (n = 11) for males, 21.5 mm ± 0.16 SE (n = 25) for females. Mean right wing-chord 118.1 mm ± 1.05 SE (n = 11) for males, 119.6 mm ± 0.65 SE (n = 26) for females. Mean tail length 48.9 mm ± 0.61 SE (n = 11) for males, 48.2 mm ± 0.42 SE (n = 27) for females. Mean length of right tarsus 30.9 mm ± 0.45 SE (n = 11) for males; 30.4 mm ± 0.30 SE (n = 25) for females.
Mass
Mean mass during breeding season in Georgia 68.6 g ± 2.61 SE (n = 10) for males, 67.5 g ± 1.12 SE (n = 26) for females; no significant difference between sexes (Corbat 1990). Mean for both sexes combined on wintering ground in Panama: 55.1 g ± 7.10 SD (n = 39; Dunning 1992).
