John Y. Takekawa received his Ph.D. in animal ecology from Iowa State University, Ames. His research focuses on the wintering and migratory ecology of waterbirds through radio telemetry, and ecological processes in the San Francisco Bay ecosystem. He is currently a Program Director at the San Francisco Bay Estuary Field Station, Biological Resources Division, U. S. Geological Survey. Address: U. S. Nils Warnock received his Ph.D. in ecology from the University of California, Davis and San Diego State University, based on a long-term population study of Dunlin. He has spent a number of years in western North America from Mexico to Alaska studying birds, especially shorebirds. Present research focuses on migration ecology, avian conservation, and management of birds along the Pacific Flyway. He is currently a program director at the Point Reyes Bird Observatory.
