About the Author(s)

Erica Nol obtained her Ph.D. in 1984, on her studies of the reproductive biology of the oystercatchers breeding in coastal Virginia and coastal Patagonia, Argentina. Since then she, along with many students, has studied the biology of the Semipalmated Plover, primarily on the breeding grounds in Churchill, Manitoba on the coast of Hudson Bay. She is a Professor of Biology at Trent University and teaches Ecology, Ornithology, Biostatistics during the regular academic year and Field Ornithology or Ecology at the University’s Ecological Field Station. Michéle Sullivan Blanken received her B.S. in Biology from Barnard College. She completed her M.Sc. thesis in 1996 on the parental behavior of Semipalmated Plovers nesting in Churchill, Manitoba.
