About the Author(s)

Dennis R. Paulson received his B.S. (1958) and Ph.D. (1966) from the University of Miami. He has studied a wide variety of subjects, from the systematics of snakes and salinity tolerance of fishes to biodiversity of urban habitat islands and zoo design, but his primary interests lie in shorebird biology and dragonfly biology and systematics. His Shorebirds of the Pacific Northwest was recently published by the University of Washington Press. Associated with the Burke Museum and University of Washington for 20 years, he is currently the director of the Slater Museum of Natural History at the University of Puget Sound.
