About the Author(s)

Erica Nol completed her Ph.D. on reproductive strategies of the oystercatchers, in 1984, from the University of Toronto. Her students are continuing work on the wintering ecology of the American Oystercatcher in Virginia, as well as the ecology of sympatric oystercatchers in Tasmania, Australia. She now teaches ecology, population genetics and biostatistics at Trent University, in Peterborough, Ontario. Address: Department of Biology, Trent University, Peterborough, Ontario K9J 7B8 Canada.

Robert C. Humphrey, a Massachusetts native who now resides in Maine, received his M.Sc. in Wildlife Biology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1988 for studies of ecology and range expansion of American Oystercatchers. This research was based at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge in Chatham, Massachusetts, where he served as Refuge Manager for 4 years.
